Wheelchair Ramp @ Mom & Dad's

08/17/2002

Doug, Steve, Juan & Toney?

Getting Ready

The Pour

6 yds of dirt + another 6 or so that Steve rounded up around the property

6 yds of Concrete, lots of rebar, wire mess and SWEAT.

Good thing Steve had all the concrete tools - saved $ to have to rent them, not to count his expertise and his crew was a HUGE benefit!

We started at the bottom ramp, then up between the garage & house, then the center section - not planned that way but the Concrete truck came early (10:30 instead of 11:00am) and the lower section was all that was ready

The concrete is now done

all that is left is installing the door and adding handrails

Adding the Handrails

The Handrails are almost done - still have to add the right side.  I also added a step, where Dad is standing

Step has been removed along with step handrails and continuous handrails were added  all the way up both sides - JUST FOR VA purposes

Handrails were extended to porch along with removing the diagonal wood handrails to porch

the expansion board was added between the lower landing and the ramp start

Top Landing - gee, no leaves, light bulb removed, along with holes, wires and even the edge of the door has been added

9/11/02

Step has been added and the remaining leaves were swept up - also cropped it on the left to make the photo more eye appealing

9/14/02 - latest

Step was reduced in width & increased in thickness

vertical boards to the right of the steps were removed

Here is what the ramp would look like with the step & rails off the left side.
